How to fit reproduction desks in your home

Reproduction desks are available in all sorts of styles and wood essences. If you love the old world charm, you certainly will want a classy reproduction desk in your home. Sometimes, especially if you don’t have any other antiques or reproductions in your home, it’s a little hard to integrate a reproduction desk.

Still, you don’t have to change all your furniture in order to enjoy your reproduction desk. There are few things you can do to make sure that the reproduction desk won’t look out of place in your home.

The first thing you need to think about is where are you going to put your reproduction desk? Do you have a study or you intend to put it in your living room? If you’re placing it in your study, it shouldn’t be too hard. All you have to do is get a matching chair- a modern, computer chair isn’t quite the accessory that will emphasize your reproduction desk. Other then that, you need some wood bookshelves, a small, leather sofa and you’ll be transported instantly in the 19th.

If you intend to put your reproduction desk inside the living room, you need to be a little more careful. An antique-looking reproduction desk in the living room is a true statement and if it’s not matched properly it won’t have the effect you were hoping for. Don’t worry: it doesn’t mean you need to fill up your house with a lot of antiques just for one reproduction desk. A few discreet touches of old style will do the trick.

For example, find a coffee table that features both old and   new look: you can choose one made of old wood, combined with very modern materials, such as glass or stainless steel. It’s not that hard as it may sound; in fact, in the last couple of years, combining very different materials and textures was quite a trend in the interior design.  After you found the perfect coffee table, start looking for a small wood bench; put it in a corner of the living room with some cushions on top. Cover your floor with a colorful Persian carpet- nothing says more about luxury and classic style then a Persian carpet. The final touch can be the chair for the reproduction desk and an antique writing set to put on the desk. You’ve created, that way, with only a few items, the perfect scenery for your reproduction desk. And, if you don’t want your computer to show, choose a desk that has side cupboards, where you can store your computer.

It’s not that difficult to integrate an old style, gorgeous furniture item in your house. A reproduction desk will upgrade your study or your living room. Bring some old charm into your home with a beautiful, valuable piece of furniture.
